Archives, Libraries and Museums

The ALM group explores similarities and differences in archives, libraries and museums. Archives, Libraries and Museums can be described as public and private institutions that organize, rank, sort, search, recommend and convey information and culture. They can also be described as memory institutions, cultural heritage institutions, information institutions or knowledge institutions.

Archives, Libraries and Museums are institutions that have arisen in different contexts and with different rationales. Therefore, they are different. However, the institutions often meet the same challenges today. They react in both surprising and predictable ways. It is these differences and similarities we explore in the ALM group. Challenges and opportunities related to digitization are a special focus for us, as are possible new institutional frameworks.

In our group we work together on joint projects, we read the texts of the field and discuss them as well as we discuss our individual projects - a selection of them can be seen below.
